FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please reach us at  info@novarapsychiatry.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

During your first appointment, you will meet with the provider to discuss your current concerns, personal and family medical and mental health history, daily functioning at school, work, or home, and your treatment goals. This comprehensive session allows the provider to gain a full understanding of your needs and create an individualized treatment plan. Recommendations may include medication management, brief psychotherapy, lifestyle strategies, or coordination with other healthcare providers to ensure holistic and effective care.

Yes. With appropriate consent, the provider collaborates with psychologists, primary care providers, other specialists, and school systems to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care. This collaborative approach supports academic performance, behavior, emotional well-being, and overall treatment success.

Medication is recommended only when clinically appropriate and following a comprehensive evaluation. The provider reviews all treatment options, addresses questions, and helps weigh potential benefits and risks. Treatment plans often integrate medication with brief psychotherapy, coping strategies, and lifestyle interventions to promote overall well-being.

Sliding scale slots are available, but slots are limited. Please contact me for more information.

We require advance notice to cancel or reschedule appointments: at least 24 hours for medication management and 48 hours for initial evaluations and psychotherapy sessions. Late cancellations may be charged up to 50% of the session rate, and no-shows may be charged up to 100% of the session rate. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may affect your scheduling availability or could result in discharge from the practice. Exceptions may be made for emergencies at the provider’s discretion.
